Jaguars vs. Texans: Laremy Tunsil Ruled Out

The Jacksonville Jaguars' pass-rush will get a potential boost on Sunday, with Houston Texans Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil ruled out for the Jaguars' Week 3 battle.
Tunsil, who has started 51 games for the Texans over the last five seasons, didn't play in Week 2 and was replaced by Josh Jones, who allowed three pressures and a sack in a loss to the Colts.
With Tunsil out, the only true starter along the Houston offensive line who is healthy is right guard Shaq Mason. Jones, Kendrick Green, George Fant, and Jarrett Patterson are all filling in for injured starters.
Through two weeks, the Jaguars have been so-so in the pass-rush department and could use this game as a get-right game. They are No. 14 in pressure rate at 32.6% but No. 22 in the NFL in sack % at 5.4% after recording just one sack against the Kansas City Chiefs last week.
“I think every week you go out there and you want to control the line of scrimmage. That’s one of our goals and that’s what we look to do every week," Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell said this week. "If we do what we’re supposed to do, go out there and control the line of scrimmage and play well as a total defense, things will fall into place.”
"They go together, the coverage and the rush go together. Sometimes you’ll be in a step behind and the pass rush will affect the throw. Sometimes we’ll be in coverage and the pass rush won’t be there, you’ll need a couple of seconds. They go together and Josh does a good job of pressuring the quarterback, he had a big hit. But you never know when you’re going to need your teammate, so that’s why you’re always accountable for your guys. You got to go out there and, ‘I got to get to the quarterback. I got to cover.’ It all goes together.”
