Jaguars vs. Texans: Week 12 Snap Count Analysis

While watching a game live can give you one impression of a player's usage, looking at the actual amount of snaps they played compared to their teammates can also give insight into the team's strategy and outlook.

When looking at the snap counts for the Jacksonville Jaguars after their 24-21 win over the Houston Texans in Week 12, it is clear to see what kind of plan the Jaguars went into the game with, and what limitations they had from a personnel standpoint.

Who played a lot, and why? Did the snaps mean anything or nothing? We examine below:

Offense (76 snaps)

  • LT Walker Little: 76 (100%)
  • C Luke Fortner: 76 (100%)
  • RG Brandon Scherff: 76 (100%)
  • RT Anton Harrison: 76 (100%)
  • QB Trevor Lawrence: 76 (100%)
  • WR Calvin Ridley: 71 (93%)
  • LG Ezra Cleveland: 64 (84%)
  • WR Christian Kirk: 58 (76%)
  • WR Zay Jones: 54 (71%)
  • TE Evan Engram: 53 (70%)
  • RB Travis Etienne: 47 (62%)
  • TE Luke Farrell: 32 (42%)
  • RB D'Ernest Johnson: 30 (39%)
  • TE Brenton Strange: 24 (32%)
  • LT Cam Robinson: 12 (16%)
  • WR Tim Jones: 5 (7%)
  • RB Tank Bigsby: 2 (3%)
  • OL Tyler Shatley: 1 (1%)
  • OL Blake Hance: 1 (1%)
  • WR Parker Washington: 1 (1%)
  1. Ezra Cleveland made his extended Jaguars debut, playing all but the first series at left guard. Cleveland played well, too, showing movement ability in the running game and helping spring D'Ernest Johnson for one of the biggest plays of the game.
  2. Speaking of Johnson, it is clear that he is the No. 2 running back moving forward. He played a season-high in snaps due to Travis Etienne's chest injury, with Tank Bigsby playing just two snaps and touching the ball once.
  3. This was a big Luke Farrell week. He was a bigger part of the game-plan than rookie tight end Brenton Strange was, putting together the best receiving day of his career.

Defense (60 snaps)

  • FS Andre Cisco: 60 (100%)
  • ILB Devin Lloyd: 60 (100%)
  • ILB Foyesade Oluokun: 60 (100%)
  • SS Rayshawn Jenkins: 57 (95%)
  • CB Montaric Brown: 57 (95%)
  • CB Darious Williams: 55 (92%)
  • OLB Josh Allen: 48 (80%)
  • OLB Travon Walker: 48 (80%)
  • CB Tre Herndon: 41 (68%)
  • DL Roy Robertson-Harris: 35 (58%)
  • DL Jeremiah Ledbetter: 26 (43%)
  • DL Dawuane Smoot: 24 (40%)
  • DL Adam Gotsis: 23 (38%)
  • DL Foley Fatukasi: 22 (37%)
  • DL Angelo Blackson: 16 (27%)
  • OLB K'Lavon Chaisson: 15 (25%)
  • DL Tyler Lacy: 5 (8%)
  • ILB Chad Muma: 3 (5%)
  • ILB Shaq Quarterman: 3 (5%)
  • FS Andrew Wingard: 2 (3%)
  1. The Jaguars' interior defensive line had their most productive day of the season in terms of rushing the passer. Foley Fatukasi should probably see a bump in snaps due to his recent production.
  2. The Jaguars went with some extra linebackers in goal line packages on Sunday, leading to more Chad Muma and Shaq Quarterman than usual.
