Jalen Ramsey, Todd Wash expect Ramsey to suit up vs. Titans despite trade request

The Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2) were put in a peculiar situation this week when star cornerback Jalen Ramsey made a request to be traded only days before the team was set to take the field vs. the Tennessee Titans (1-1) on Thursday Night Football.

But despite Ramsey asking to be shipped out of Jacksonville on Sunday night, it appears the player and defensive coordinator Todd Wash both expect for him to play on Thursday, one of the Jaguars' most important games of the season.

"In my opinion, I hope so. Yeah I’d like to see him on the grass," Wash said Tuesday. "He is a competitor. So if he is in our building and all of that kind of stuff, we anticipate he is going to play and he is going to play well. That is just who Jalen is."

When asked how he would feel if Jacksonville doesn't deal him soon, Ramsey continued to say Tuesday that he was focused on playing on Thursday, another indication he is playing.

“I’m excited for this Thursday. I’m going to go out there like I do every single game and I’m going to give it my all regardless of the emotion, regardless of if I’m mad or not," Ramsey said.

Ramsey reported to the team's facility on Tuesday, despite the trade request leaking the previous night, and took part in team activities to prepare for Thursday's divisional game against the Titans. Wash, who some reports said played part in Ramsey's request, confirmed Ramsey took part in meetings.

"You know, he is on our football team. So, you know, we are status quo, moving ahead. He was out in walkthroughs and meetings today taking notes," Wash said.

But if the Jaguars coaching staff does decide to make their star cornerback inactive to protect their new trade piece, Ramsey said he is prepared for that as well.

"I'm going to support the hell out of my teammates. As long as I'm a part of this team, that's all you're going to get from me. I hope they go out there ... as long as I'm a part of this team, I hope they go out there and beat the hell out of people," Ramsey said.

"I hope they win every game as long as I'm a part of this team. I got nothing but love for every player on this team; they go out there and play their ass off."
