Report: Former 49ers Assistant Geep Chryst Joins Jaguars as Pro Scout

The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly added a long-time assistant coach to their pro scouting department.
As Neil Stratton reported, former San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator Geep Chryst has the Jaguars listed as his employer on his LinkedIn account. According to his account, Chryst is employed as a pro scout and started with the team this month.
Per his LinkedIn account (https://t.co/Bbz62dacNF ), veteran #NFL coach Geep Chryst is a new pro scout for the #Jaguars. Chryst co-founded a sports analytics firm in '16 and most recently coached TEs at @CalFootball. Chryst is a past offensive coordinator of #Chargers & #49ers.

"Chryst has 25 years of NFL coaching experience, working as an offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach and tight ends coach. In 13 of the 25 seasons coaching in the NFL his offense ranked in the Top Ten in either Rushing, Passing or Points Scored," Chryst's account reads.
"When in San Francisco from 2011-2014 he coached Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick. The 49ers won 54 games in that span and both quarterbacks set career records for passer rating in 2012 when Kaepernick took over for Smith Week 11 in a MNF win over the Bears. Neither QB had enough throws to qualify for the league rating title but Smith (104.3 rating) would have finished 3rd and Kaepernick (98.3 rating) would have been 7th. No NFL team has had two quarterbacks finish in the Top 10 the same season. Chryst worked as San Francisco's offensive coordinator in 2015 when Blaine Gabbert replaced Kaepernick Week 9. Kaepernick had played well in games early but struggled in losses to division foes Arizona, Seattle and St. Louis. Gabbert went on that year to lead the NFL in Red Zone Passing (120.5)."
Chryst, 60, worked as tight ends coach with Cal University in 2021. He was the tight ends coach for the Denver Broncos from 2017-2018 and has worked as a tight ends coach, quarterbacks coach, and offensive coordinator with multiple teams, including the Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, San Diego Chargers, and the Chicago Bears.
During his time in San Francisco, Chryst's tenure coincided with those of Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke and assistant general manager Ethan Waugh.
