Report: Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence Clears Concussion Protocol Ahead of Buccaneers Game

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has cleared concussion protocol ahead of Christmas Eve's Week 16 game vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport first broke the news that Lawrence, who has never missed a start, would travel with the team on Saturday.
Lawrence has started all 48 regular-season games in his career since Week 1 of the 2021 season, joining Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen as the only quarterbacks to do so.
Lawrence spent the week in the protocol after self-reporting symptoms after Sunday's 23-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Lawrence didn't practice on Wednesday or Thursday, but was limited during Friday's practice as he returned to the practice field.
Pederson appeared optimistic about Lawrence's chances on Friday, saying that the odds were better than a coin flip.
“I think it’s better than that, but still, this is Friday and he’s still technically in the protocol until he can clear. You really can’t even compare it, it’s not really a coin flip. It has to be yes or no type of deal," Pederson said.
In 14 starts this year, Lawrence has completed 65.9% of his passes for 3,525 yards, 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
If Lawrence wasn't cleared, the Jaguars would have turned the keys of the offense over to backup quarterback C.J. Beathard. Now, though, Lawrence will start after one day of practice reps.
“It’s a tough decision. The number one thing is making sure he’s one hundred percent and he has been cleared by all of the specialists. Then you have to make a decision as a team and see where he’s at too. It definitely makes it harder," Pederson said on Wednesday.
