'We'll Start Throwing in Two Weeks': Trevor Lawrence Welcomes Calvin Ridley to Jacksonville

After gambling took away the 2022-2023 season, Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley is excited to put the past behind him and get to work with his new team.
In an interview with Bucky Brooks, Ridley expressed excitement about being teammates with franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence and how the two can make an impact together on the field.
“His ability,” Ridley said. “He’s a great quarterback, young, smart, got an arm. I know that my tools coming to play with him, I can just see us doing really, really big things. He has the arm strength to reach me, and I can get open on a lot of different guys. We have a lot of teammates that can help. I just think he’s a great talent, the arm strength, and me, my ability with that, I think it really can work out good.”
In a FaceTime call with Ridley, Lawrence shared the same sentiments, expressing that both he and the team are eager to have the five-year veteran on board -- with workouts between Lawrence and his wideouts just two weeks away.

“We’re excited to have you man,” Lawrence told Ridley. “Dude it’s gonna be fun. You’re gonna love the guys. It’s gonna be awesome. We’re stoked to have you.”
The Jaguars' culture under the leadership of Lawrence and head coach Doug Pederson is one that is welcoming, accepting, and relationship-driven, something that has rubbed Ridley the right way in his encounters with team staff and teammates thus far. The other side of it is the strict dedication to business, with Lawrence wasting no time in informing Ridley of the plan to begin throwing in two weeks per the Jaguars' official Twitter account.
For Ridley, getting back into the swing of things and working again is an exciting prospect. With offseason programs set to begin in April, Ridley is as ready as he will ever be to make a statement.
“That’s the part of football I love,” Ridley said. “I love the competing. I wish April 17 was tomorrow. That’s what I’m here for. I want to play football. I can’t tell y’all how excited I am. I sat out the whole season. The season just ended. Now I’m back in. This process is slow for me to perform. Just taking it slow, one foot at a time, but I can’t wait.”
