The New York Jets are trying to go big and young as they try to build up Aaron Rodgers' receiving room, which explains the coming visit from just-cut Chargers wideout Mike Williams.

Odell Beckham Jr. is not big. He's not young. But does he fit the vision of GM Joe Douglas ...  not to mention the vision of "de facto GM'' Rodgers?

We know. The Jets hate that characterization. But there is no doubt that Rodgers has influence here. Nor is there doubt that the Jets receiving corps is currently made up of Garrett Wilson and ... not enough else.

OBJ is saying goodbye to the Baltimore Ravens after a comeback season that saw the three-time Pro Bowler catching 35 balls for 565 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games played. That all came after a lengthy knee rehab that a year ago kept his suitors to a minimum ...

Though it is worth noting that the Jets were at the time one of those possible suitors.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, fans should "keep an eye" on OBJ potentially joining the Jets in 2024. ... but we would say at the same time that the Jets should not only gauge the talent left in the tank but also the chemistry fit.

As New Yorkers know well due to OBJ's time with the Giants, he is a lightning rod for controversy .... and some might argue that with Rodgers alone, the Jets have plenty of that. Otherwise? Reputation aside, we can tell you that in our coverage of OBJ's many travels, most teammates end up swearing by him.

Beckham has talked in the past about wanting to play multiple more seasons and about finding a permanent home, on and off the field.

That's enough reason to explore whether OBJ might come cheap ... and whether OBJ might come "home.''
