Aaron Rodgers One of 21 Inactives for Jets on Saturday in Carolina
As expected, quarterback Aaron Rodgers headlines the list. The New York Jets announced a total of 21 players who will not participate in Saturday’s NFL Preseason game against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte.
Zach Wilson, the former No. 2 overall draft pick, started at quarterback for the Green & White and proceeded to engineer a successful drive that ended with a 47-yard field goal by Greg Zuerlein. Wilson completed his first four pass attempts, including third-down conversions to tight end Tyler Conklin and running back Michael Carter.
Carter and running back Zonovan Knight both received multiple touches on the team’s first offensive possession.
Starting guard Alijah Vera-Tucker was one of the 21 inactive players with veteran free-agent addition Wes Schweitzer filling in on the right side. The offensive line protecting Wilson on the game-opening drive consisted of left tackle Bully Turner, left guard Laken Tomlinson, center Connor McGovern, Schweitzer and right tackle Max Mitchell.
While it’s the preseason opener for the host Panthers, the Jets are contesting their second exhibition thus far this month. Gang Green kicked off the 2023 schedule by facing the Cleveland Browns in the Hall of Fame Game on August 3. Wilson played the entire first quarter last week in Canton and the Jets built a 16-7 lead after 30:00 of play.
