Davante Adams Trade to Aaron Rodgers Jets? Raiders Shut Down Rumors

Davante Adams Trade to Aaron Rodgers' New York Jets? Las Vegas Raiders Firmly Shut Down Rumors

The New York Jets, especially by virtue of the wishes of supposed "de-facto GM'' Aaron Rodgers, have eyeballed All-Pro receiver Davante Adams for quite some time.

The idea came up at the trade deadline last season. The idea is sure to come up again as the NFL business year is about to begin on March 13.

But Rodgers’ all-time favorite target dating back to their days together in Green Bay is apparently not up for grabs.

"He's a Raider,'' proclaimed new Las Vegas general manager Tom Telesco said Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine.

So, that's the end of that? Telesco added emphatically that Vegas has “no plans” to trade the six-time Pro Bowler. ... and there is some wisdom there. Adams, even at 31, is the sort of player good teams should be attempting to acquire ... just as the Raiders did in 2022 when they engineered a blockbuster deal to acquire him.

Adams has been vocal in his support of the new regime in Vegas, led by rookie coach Antonio Pierce. Additionally, the Raiders' hiring of Luke Getsy as their new offensive coordinator seems Adams-related, as Getsy was on the Packers staff for seven seasons when Adams played there, spending time as Adams' position coach.

The connection between the Jets and Adams is a natural one, and remember a year ago, when the four-time MVP QB Rodgers forged his way to New York via trade, he was very much involved in urging the organization to acquire what we might call "Rodgers-friendly'' teammates. That didn't necessarily work out as planned ... (see "Bleeping Mess'' below) ...

But we bet that won't stop Rodgers from trying. It's just that now, whatever the Jets try to do to bolster his Garrett Wilson-led receiving corps, it won't include stealing Adams from the desert.
