The New York Jets are exercising extra caution when it comes to their 39-year old quarterback.

Aaron Rodgers's arm is fine. A quick scroll through the Jets' team Twitter page will instantly confirm that notion.

While his right arm is firing like a Howitzer, Rodgers's calf remains tender and Gang Green has been holding him out of 11-on-11 drills as a result. That was the case again on Tuesday, June 6 during the Jets' eighth of 10 permitted OTAs Phase 3 practices.

"Anything team where people can be around his legs, we’ve been holding him out on that stuff," said third-year head coach Robert Saleh.

Rodgers initially sustained the injury during the warmup period prior to a May 23 practice. He was sidelined for three straight practice sessions on May 25, 30 and 31 and returned to action on Friday, June 2.

"He’s been doing 7-on-7, two-minute," said Saleh. "He did [practice on] Friday. He did some two-minute work and then got in yesterday."

The June 5 practice was closed to the media, but the Jets' social media team shared some Rodgers-related eye candy with the public.

The future Hall-of-Fame quarterback was shown heaving a deep ball down field for Malik Taylor, dropping it right into the receiver's bread basket.

"He’s just got tremendous vision, he can see it all and he’s got so much experience that you give him that much, you’re wide open," said Saleh. "There’s been some wild moments, I’m sure there’s going to be a heck of a lot more."

Then, there was a crisp strike from Rodgers to a tightly-covered C.J. Uzomah.

"I think there was another one that they threw out there where he threw it to CJ Uzomah. It was a dirty throw," said Saleh.

During Tuesday's 7-on-7 drills, with the media watching, Rodgers completed a back shoulder throw to Garrett Wilson in the end zone. Cornerback D.J. Reed was defending Wilson on the play.

The four-time MVP, who has 475 career regular season touchdown passes to his credit, also hooked up with undrafted free agent Jason Brownlee for a score during red zone work.

Rodgers and the Jets never expressed serious concern over the injury.

"I don't think it's too serious," said Rodgers on the day that he tweaked his calf

After two more OTAs practices, the grizzled veteran will have extra time to rest since the Jets have cancelled next week's scheduled minicamp.

"With the Hall of Fame Game, we’re reporting a week earlier than everybody else and guys need to get away," said Saleh.
