New York Jets Urged to Not Make Simple Mistake in NFL Draft

With the draft quickly approaching, the New York Jets need to be smart with their picks.

The vibes are high again for the New York Jets after a 2023 offseason that saw them arguably improve more than anyone in the NFL. Unfortunately, that didn't last very long as Aaron Rodgers went down three plays into the season.

Things happen and if one fan base understands that, it's Jets fans.

With the No. 10 pick in the NFL Draft, New York has an opportunity to find an immediate impact player to pair with Rodgers and the rest of the improved offense.

There will be many choices on draft night, but Bleacher Report's Maurice Moton urges them to not make one simple mistake.

Moton believes the one mistake the Jets can't make is drafting an offensive lineman over a pass catcher. He adds that the front office must do whatever it takes to maximize the window with Rodgers as the franchise player and drafting a pass catcher does that.

The offseason saw them add pieces on the offensive line, a group that needed to improve after being sacked the fourth most in football at 3.8 per game.

New York's biggest offseason move was signing Tyron Smith, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time All-Pro.

While he hasn't played more than 13 games in a season since 2015, he's healthy and the Jets have options to fill in for him when needed.

Looking at the rest of the offense, they can use a player of Brock Bowers caliber. Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson are truly the only two threats this offense has.

Adding a valuable pass catcher in Bowers would give them a tight end who put up two seasons with 880-plus yards and 26 touchdowns in his three-year college career.

Bowers reportedly visited with the team on Monday in Florham Park, according to Peter Schrager of NFL Network, a promising sign that he could be their pick.
