Jets in Contact With Packers About Aaron Rodgers Trade

The Jets have officially inquired with the Packers about the availability of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Earlier this weekend, Fowler wrote that New York will "aggressively pursue" Rodgers and that Green Bay's signal-caller is the Jets' "target A until proved otherwise" this offseason.

New York is in the market for a veteran quarterback this offseason after former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson regressed in his sophomore season. Jets owner Woody Johnson recently confirmed that New York will look to address their weakness at quarterback moving forward, seeking to find a missing piece to lead this franchise back to contention.

As much as Rodgers profiles as a spectacular fit with New York's young core, the 39-year-old isn't necessarily going to be available. The future Hall of Famer has yet to decide on his own playing future. A trade for Rodgers would be expensive as well, both in the quarterback's salary and what it would take to acquire him from Green Bay.

Rumors about a possible Jets-Packers trade swirled to new heights when New York hired Nathaniel Hackett as their new offensive coordinator. Hackett was the offensive coordinator in Green Bay—building a close relationship with Rodgers—for three seasons, a presence that could tip the scales in making New York a preferred destination for the four-time MVP.
