WATCH: Sam Darnold flashes leadership by hosting Jets teammates for California workout

Sam Darnold is only 22 but he's already proving to be wise beyond his years.
The Jets quarterback recently gathered some of his teammates for a throwing session at his high school alma mater in Southern California.
Great to have Sam Darnold and some @nyjets teammates back on campus the last couple of days! All players are now honorary members of #onetownoneteam Just another reason why if you live in SC, there is only one place to be! Camp Sam Clemente! pic.twitter.com/4iMprqhTJP

This is the second throwing session between Darnold and his teammates in his native Southern California. These workouts are a great way for the Jets to gel on and off the field.
The second-year quarterback is demonstrating tremendous leadership by establishing chemistry prior to training camp and his teammates rave about him as a player and person.
"Love Sam Darnold."

"I love Sam Darnold. He's a great dude. He's funny. We have a little banter every now and then. He throws a really good ball. He's a definite leader," Running back Ty Montgomery said to New York Jets.com. "The ball gets on you a little quicker than what I thought when he wants to put it in there. He's got a strong arm."
Jets center Jonotthan Harrison shares a specific trait in Darnold that teammates really respect.
Training camp is right around the corner...and if you’re hoping for a much better Sam Darnold in 2019...@JHarrison_72 says you’re in luck #nyj #jets @News12LI pic.twitter.com/AU9po7p7fG

"He only has upside. He only has potential. I love him to death. He's a hard worker. At practice if he messes something up he gets frustrated and he'll get it right the next play," Harrison said to News 12 LI. "That's what we love about him and I'm just looking forward to seeing him take that next step this year."
Darnold will look to build off a rookie campaign in which he amassed 2,865 yards, 17 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
Darnold is the most important component in order for the Jets to accomplish their goal of returning to the playoffs for the first time since 2010. It's extremely encouraging that Darnold is hard at work this offseason to build the necessary rapport with his teammates to transform that dream into a reality.
