2023 Jets Country Player Profile: S Ashtyn Davis (21)

In this story:
Ashtyn Davis saw his defensive snaps drop drastically in 2022.
The New York Jets' 2020 third-round draft pick was part of the team's defensive alignment for only 13 plays all season. Almost all of the safety's action came on special teams.
After making only five tackles in 14 games, Davis faces the challenge of re-establishing himself on Gang Green's roster.
The 6-foot-1 Davis had totaled 1,147 snaps on defense over his first two pro seasons, appearing in 23 games during the span. The Cal product made two interceptions and forced three fumbles during the 2021 campaign, but he took a backseat to veterans Jordan Whitehead and Lamarcus Joyner last year.
Even undrafted rookie Tony Adams played over Davis in 2022.
In 2023, he'll have to compete in a safeties room that features Whitehead, Chuck Clark, Adrian Amos, Adams and promising undrafted rookie Trey Dean.
