It was only one year, but it was one heckuva year.

Constrained by an unstable quarterback situation, receiver Garrett Wilson caught at least one pass in all 17 games and totaled 1,103 receiving yards as a rookie.

In only one season, Wilson, who won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award, proved to be the WR1 that other pass-catchers want to play alongside.

“They got a great second-year player in Garrett Wilson who had an absolutely unbelievable year. Guys of those names, just to play alongside them is attractive,” said Jets' free-agent signee Mecole Hardman during his introductory press conference.

Fans and fantasy football experts took notice of Wilson last year, too. Going into 2023, Wilson carries great expectations from the analytics community.

It's hypothesized that Wilson's efficiency will only increase with four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers now serving as the Jets' starting quarterback.

In a season where he posted eight 75+ yard performances, Wilson caught only 56.5 percent of his 143 targets. One has to believe some of those misses will become hits in 2023 as Rodgers delivers a more accurate ball than the collection of quarterbacks that took snaps for Gang Green last year.

"I love Garrett. I mean awesome, awesome young kid. The whole world in front of him. He’s got all the talent and ability," said Rodgers on the final day of OTAs. "You need your best players to be the best people on your team. He’s definitely one of them. Love spending time with him, love just watching him."

Wilson, the No. 10 overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, played 79 percent of the team's offensive snaps as a rookie. He broke the 100-yard receiving barrier for the first time in Week 2 while keying a 31-30 road over the Browns

The 2022 campaign was a continuation of Wilson's final year at Ohio State. In 2021, the Buckeyes' All-American caught 70 passes for 1,054 yards and 12 touchdowns in 11 games while lining up with fellow first-round draft pick Chris Olave.
