The New York Jets rewarded Thomas Hennessy for his reliability by inking the veteran specialist to a four-year contract extension this offseason.

The 29-year-old long snapper, who went undrafted out of Duke in 2017, hasn't missed a game in six years.

"Henny [Thomas Hennessy], happy for him. He’s got the new deal," said special teams coordinator Brant Boyer.

Hennessy, the longest tenured Jet on the roster, enters the 2023 campaign carrying an active 98-game consecutive appearances streak. He kicked off his NFL career in the 2017 season opener at Buffalo and has handled Gang Green's long-snapping duties ever since.

Although they only played together for a portion of one season, Hennessy made a lasting impression on veteran punter Thomas Morstead.

"I love playing for Brant Boyer and working with Thomas Hennessy, the long snapper, so that would probably be the biggest reason for excitement," said Morstead about re-joining the Jets. "Think about any job you have, the people that you spend the most time with. If you're excited to be around those people, no matter what the job entails, that was a huge piece of it."

Hennessy, Morstead and kicker Greg Zuerlein make for a smooth operation in the kicking game.

"It’s a good feeling to have the experienced guys that we do, as far as our three specialists," said Boyer.

Hennessy has been in Green & White the longest of the three and that likely won't change for at least the next five years.
