Jets Re-Sign Week 11 Starter to Practice Squad Deal

Second-year pro provides interior offensive line insurance for injury-decimated position group

The New York Jets filled the one remaining opening on their 16-player Practice Squad by bringing back a familiar face.

After offensive guard Xavier Newman's signing to the 53-man roster opened up a P-Squad spot last week, the Jets filled the vacancy by re-adding interior offensive lineman Chris Glaser on Monday.

The 24-year-old Glaser was available since being released by New York last Thursday, November 24. He had made three straight appearances for the Jets, including a Week 11 start at right guard against the Buffalo Bills.

Glaser initially entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. He has logged multiple stints on the Jets' Practice Squad dating back to last season. The former four-year college starter (Virginia) played in all four of the Jets' preseason games this past summer.

In late October, Glaser spent one week on the Dallas Cowboys' Practice Squad until rejoining the Jets as a member of the 53-man roster.

Glaser's return to the Practice Squad happens as veteran interior lineman Wes Schweitzer becomes eligible to be activated off Injured Reserve. The Jets' offensive line has been decimated by injuries this season, forcing the team to use eight different starting combinations in 11 games.

Glaser is one of three interior offensive linemen on the 16-member P-Squad, joining Jake Hanson and Rodger Saffold. Hanson was a gameday elevation each of the past two weeks. Saffold, who started 16 games for Buffalo in 2022, has yet to see any game action.
