The New York Jets have been active on the transactions wire this week and team brass made a notable move that was reported on Thursday morning.

Veteran edge rusher Carl Lawson has agreed to a re-worked contract that creates $12.7 million in salary cap space for Gang Green in 2023, according to ESPN's Field Yates.

The 6-foot-2 Lawson initially inked a three-year deal reportedly worth $45 million in 2021.

Jets' head coach Robert Saleh has previously stated that Lawson is a part of the team's plans for the season ahead.

"Pass rushers, they don’t grow on trees," said Saleh while addressing reporters at the NFL Owners Meeting in late March. "Carl has a commodity, in this League, that's gold. So, he will be here as long as he can walk and play."

In addition to freeing up linemate Quinnen Williams, Lawson logged 7.0 sacks while being credited with 24 quarterback hits in 2022. He played an estimated 58 percent of the Jets' defensive snaps in his second season with the club.

Welcome Back, Guidry

Cornerback Javelin Guidry signed with the Jets as an undrafted rookie in 2020. Now, he's back with his original NFL club after being claimed off waivers from the Atlanta Falcons

The 5-foot-9 defensive back made 28 appearances in two seasons (2020-21) as a Jet. Guidry, who played collegiately at Utah, totaled 70 stops, four forced fumbles and three passes defensed with Gang Green. The team waived the third-year player at the end of the 2022 NFL Preseason.

The 24-year old Guidry has passed through four different teams since being dropped by the Jets.

Tryout Player Earns Contract

Tight end Izaiah Gathings was undrafted and undeterred.

The Middle Tennessee product attended the Jets' rookie minicamp on a tryout basis and has since landed a contract with the club. He joins a list of 13 other undrafted rookies signed by the Green & White earlier this month.

The 6-foot-4 Gathings made 12 appearances (11 starts) at receiver for MTSU last year. He caught at least four passes in seven different games as a senior. Prior to transferring up to the FBS, Gathings enjoyed a 1,000-yard receiving season with Gardner-Webb in 2019.
