Jared Goff at Masters: Golf 'Might Be Too Slow' for Dan Campbell

Why Lions QB thinks Dan Campbell may not be great golfer.

The Masters is annually one of the biggest sporting events of the spring.

Beginning Thursday, the wildly popular golf tournament will run through Sunday at Augusta National. Among the celebrities taking in the historic experience is Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff.

The Lions' veteran quarterback appeared on Fore Please! Now Driving..., the official Masters podcast hosted by ESPN's Marty Smith.

Goff identified Jack Fox as one of the better golfers on the team. However, he also pointed out that the game may be too slow for head coach Dan Campbell to enjoy.

“No, I’m not sure he’s much of a golfer," Goff said of Campbell. "No, I don’t think he would be. I bet he plays once a year when it’s with the boys, to play some golf. No, he’s, I don’t know if his personality is quite fit for it or if he enjoys it that much. It might be too slow for him.”

Connections on the course

Goff, as a popular figure in the athletic world, has likely connected with several players in this weekend's event. However, one that he is closer to is Max Homa, who entered Friday two shots back of the lead.

Homa and Goff have connected on multiple occasions and the Lions' quarterback declared himself a fan of the golfer.

“Max went to Cal, so we have that connection. I hung with him at the Waste Management stuff and have just seen him around," Goff explained. "He also went to the same high school as my fiancée, so they had a connection there as well. We’ve kind of crossed paths a million times. I’ve always been a fan of the way he does things. I’ve been able to hang with him a few times, it’s been fun.”

Goff named Homa and Joaquin Niemann among his favorites to win the Masters this year.
