How Texas A&M Rumors Benefit Dan Campbell

Dan Campbell is not going to be a college coach anytime soon.

The Detroit Lions organization have their leader for the foreseeable future.

With his team on the verge of winning the NFC North and possibly securing the top playoff seed in the conference, head coach Dan Campbell and his roster are the talk of the NFL.

With success comes rampant speculation regarding other opportunities that could arise for Detroit's third-year head coach.

Campbell played collegiately at Texas A&M, who recently dismissed head coach Jimbo Fisher prior to the end of their season.

As is the case with high-profile openings, multiple media members have floated the idea of the SEC football school reaching out to inquire if Campbell would run their program.

While the idea is absurd, the passionate coach could find himself benefitting monetarily from being in demand.

Should Campbell win playoff games this season, a hefty raise and more years added to his contract would certainly be in order.

Imagine if a booster decided to openly court one of the most popular coaches in the NFL.

If Texas A&M was willing to pay north of $70 million for a coach to leave, what could they offer an NFL coach who would instantly rally the fanbase.

While Campbell would not likely seek to leverage ownership, it is fairly certain the Ford Family will handsomely reward their head coach in the coming months.

Detroit's head man was asked during his weekly radio interview if the team has started to talk about their Super Bowl aspirations.

"We're no different than anybody else. I mean, ultimately, when you start the season, if you don't have the end in mind, then what the hell are you doing? So, of course, that's where you want to get," Campbell told 97.1 The Ticket. "But I know this, you can't just say, 'Well, we're going to go to the Super Bowl and we're going to win the Super Bowl.' There's steps you got to take to get there.

"And the biggest step is and your odds are the best when you get a home game, when you're seeded the best and things run through you. That's the best way. It doesn't mean that's the only way," Campbell explained further. "So to do that man, you've got to win your division. And so that's the focus right now is, man, it's about how do we play our best ball. You've got to win your division."
