Several members of the Detroit Lions have been voluntarily working out at the team's Allen Park practice facility, one week before the NFL Draft.

The team released numerous photos online of participants, and supporters were keen to focus on Jameson Williams, one of the organization's two first-round selections last year.

Despite what was being talked about online, Lions general manager Brad Holmes indicated that wide receiver James Williams was in attendance Wednesday for workouts.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, Detroit's third-year general manager indicated the organization had high expectations that the speedy wideout would take accountability and be responsible for getting himself ready to earn more playing time in 2023.

"He was just here yesterday. He was here," Holmes explained, when asked at his pre-draft media session about Williams' participation.

Wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown indicated this week that he is excited to see how Williams performs this season, especially after having an entire offseason to work with Jared Goff and be able to work out while being fully healthy.

Williams has already participated in workouts with Goff and the team's other receivers out West.

"We all linked up like two weeks ago, back in California," said St. Brown. "I had a lot of receivers there, you know, just running around, throwing routes, catching balls. He (Williams) looked good. I'm excited to see what he does. Obviously, finally him being healthy, having a year to prepare and train -- whereas last year, he was rehabbing, and then we threw him in at the end of the season. So, I'm excited to see what he does with a full offseason under his belt."

Holmes indicated that he was not concerned about Williams not seeing the field in 2022. As Holmes explained, the talented wideout was always viewed as a long-term investment.
