Lions Are Not Fraudulent: Fans React to Embarrassing Loss

In this story:
The Baltimore Ravens delivered the Lions a big slice of "humble pie" on Sunday.
Lamar Jackson and the Ravens dominated Dan Campbell's squad from start to finish, handing Detroit its worst loss of the 2023 season.
It was a major setback for a Detroit team that a week prior had risen to the top of the NFC standings, with a 20-6 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
And, it also brought into question whether the Lions truly deserved all the hype they had received through the first six weeks of the season.
A variety of Detroit fans and pundits alike took to social media to debate that very topic, as Jackson & Co. continued to pile on the points in the Week 7 contest.
Despite the highly disappointing nature of the loss, many fans came to the defense of the Lions and argued that the defeat does not prove that Detroit is a fraudulent playoff contender. Of course, there were also several fans that took the stance that a truly good team avoids losing a game as bad as the Lions did Sunday.
There's no denying that the Lions suffered an absolute trouncing on the behalf of Baltimore. Although the Ravens are one of the best teams the AFC has to offer, it's no excuse for the pitiful performance that Detroit produced on both sides of the football.
Both the local and the national media expected a much closer contest, and Lions fans deserved much better from their team.
Yet, in the grand scheme of things, it was just one game, and could end up being a "slip-up" on the way to a strong, division-winning campaign for the franchise.
And, the Lions could help their fans quickly forget Sunday's dismal performance with a convincing, bounce-back win against the Raiders next Monday night.
Here is a sample of the reaction online to the Lions' Week 7 setback.
Of course not. No more than the 9ers and Eagles losing last week makes them look fraudulent. To put this in perspective, this is only the 2nd loss since week 8 of last season. #RELAX

No. It’s one game. They aren’t as good as we thought but they aren’t as bad as this game either. Holmes needs to do something at the deadline.

No. One game doesn’t make a season or change what this team has done until this point. Baltimore is a good team, at their home, with an always tough defense. Just chalk this one up and move on. Still a good team.

Yup. I don't believe they are actually this bad, but this is one of the worst performances in the league this year. Hard to scream "Superbowl" when you're down by 35 to anyone.

Yeah kinda. But it dont matter what the media says, we are here to win the NFC North. Thats it. The talking heads are going to be insufferable this week but hey we shouldnt be listening anyways.
