Detroit's defense was facing quite the dilemma with cornerback Jerry Jacobs.

If the talented defensive back was kept on the roster, he would have taken up a roster spot, despite not being fully ready to contribute Week 1 of the NFL season.

It has been reported by NFL Network that the Lions have decided to place Jacobs on the Physically Unable to Perform list to start the 2022 NFL season.

This move allows the Lions to retain an additional member of the roster, as Jacobs will not count against the 53-man roster.

Campbell noted to reporters on Monday regarding Jacobs' status, “That’s another one that we’re talking about, and that’s a tough one, because if we don’t PUP him, that’s a spot. And, we don’t see him being ready for Philly. So, that’s another one up for debate.”

AJ Parker was in competition for the nickel cornerback spot, but with veteran Mike Hughes and Will Harris in line to play significantly more at that position, Parker became more expendable.

Rookie Chase Lucas is also in the mix to make the Lions' initial 53-man roster.

The Lions have now had 10 reported roster cuts, ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
