Lions Signing WR Dylan Drummond After Rookie Minicamp

Detroit Lions add wide receiver to offseason roster.

After a successful rookie minicamp, the Detroit Lions have decided to add a new wide receiver to the roster.

Dylan Drummond has been signed after being one of 10 participants to earn a rookie tryout over the past weekend.

During special teams drills, Drummond showcased his speed, as he regularly won reps by defeating defenders attempting to stop his forward progress.

According to Eastern Michigan's website, Drummond was "one of the most consistent players in EMU football history. Drummond finished his EMU career with 52 games played, which ties for the fourth most in program history, just two behind the all-time record of 56 (Sidy Sow -- 2018-22). The Cleveland, Ohio native hauled in 183 career receptions for 2,028 yards and 14 touchdowns. His 64 passes caught in 2021 is the ninth-best single-season total in program history, while his total receptions put him fourth all-time at EMU."

Fourth rookie drafted signs on the dotted line

Soon after it was reported that Drummond was added to the roster, it was announced defensive lineman Brodric Martin also inked his rookie deal.

The talented defensive lineman is the fourth rookie to sign on the dotted line.

“It’s like I’m blessed now. This is surreal," Martin said at rookie minicamp. "I still don’t believe it. Like, I walked up and seen the locker with my name on it and just, I ain’t going to lie. I about shed a couple of tears, because this is like actually here. It’s happening.”

Phase two of organized team activities

The Lions have now entered the next phase of the offseason workout program.

On the team's website, photos indicate that veterans worked out with rookies for the first time this offseason on Monday.

Rookie defensive back Brian Branch, who expressed frustration at missing practice Saturday, was seen working out. Unfortunately, no photographs of rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs were posted.
