The Green Bay Packers, who are wearing No. 15 decals on their helmets to honor Bart Starr, will celebrate the legendary quarterback’s life this week in the days leading up to Sunday’s game against Minnesota.

Along with events on Friday and Saturday, the team will have a halftime program and ceremony to honor Starr. Dozens of Packers alumni, including some of Starr’s former teammates and players, will be in attendance.

“I understand how important Bart was to not only this team but the NFL – obviously playing in the first Super Bowl. So, fun to celebrate him the right way,” the team’s current quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, said on Wednesday.

Starr, who died on May 26, won five championships as the Packers’ quarterback, including Super Bowls I and II. Remarkably given how the game has changed, Starr remains the top-ranked passer in postseason history. In fashioning a 9-1 postseason record, Starr crafted a passer rating of 104.8. That’s No. 1 all-time. Only 14 quarterbacks have a playoff passer rating of at least 90 (minimum 150 attempts), according to Pro Football Reference.
