All Eyes On a Receiver at No. 33 for Carolina?

Carolina aims to add a playmaker early in the draft for Bryce Young.

What will the Carolina Panthers do with the 33rd overall pick in the NFL Draft? Will it be a center? A pass rusher? A corner? Or will it be what everyone thinks… a wide receiver.

There are several players at each of those positions that will have Carolina’s interest, but if they want to snag one of the top receivers in the draft, they may not be able to wait around until their next pick at No. 39, especially if five or six receivers go in round one.

According to Matt Miller of ESPN, receiver or perhaps tight end is where all of the focus is for Carolina.

A conversation with an evaluator for the Panthers brought up the team's desire to add playmakers around second-year quarterback Bryce Young early in this draft. 'If we want to keep our jobs, we'll get him some help,' the evaluator said. The Panthers could target wide receivers Keon Coleman (FSU) or Xavier Legette (South Carolina) at No. 33. Legette's South Carolina pro day was heavily attended by the Panthers' front office and coaching staff, and Carolina also met with Legette twice during Senior Bowl week, per a source close to the player.”

I projected Legette to the Panthers at 33 in my most recent mock draft, followed up by West Virginia center Zach Frazier at 39. If Carolina is able to come out of the second round with those two, it will lessen the sting of not having a first round pick.
