2023 NFC South Draft Rankings

The 2023 NFL Draft is in the books, so who in the NFC South had the best weekend? Who had the worst?

Here are our NFC South draft rankings:

1. CAROLINA PANTHERS

RD1: QB Bryce Young, Alabama

RD2: WR Jonathan Mingo, Ole Miss

RD3: LB DJ Johnson, Oregon

RD4: OG Chandler Zavala, North Carolina State

RD5: S Jammie Robinson, Florida State

Analysis: Bryce Young. That's all that needs to be said. He is the best and most pro-ready player in this entire draft and one could argue that he's the top or second-best QB in the NFC already. If he is as good as expected, the rest of this class doesn't really matter. That said, I think the Panthers hit on their fourth and fifth-round picks in Chandler Zavala and Jammie Robinson. They will become starters at some point. Then the two guys in the middle, Jonathan Mingo and DJ Johnson have the physical traits to become special players. Small draft haul but a high quality one.

2. ATLANTA FALCONS

RD1: RB Bijan Robinson, Texas

RD2: OG Matthew Bergeron, Syracuse

RD3: DE Zach Harrison, Ohio State

RD4: CB Clark Phillips III, Utah

RD7: S Demarcco Hellams, Alabama

RD7: OG Jovaughn Gwyn, South Carolina

Analysis: I know everyone is knocking the Falcons for taking Bijan Robinson 8th overall but I don't mind it. In my opinion, he's more deserving of being a top-10 pick than Todd Gurley, Ezekiel Elliott, Leonard Fournette, C.J. Spiller, and a few others. Bergeron and Phillips III are future quality starters. Overall, it's a nice balance of offense and defense.

3. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

RD1: DT Bryan Bresee, Clemson

RD2: DE Isaiah Foskey, Notre Dame

RD3: RB Kendre Miller, TCU

RD4: OT Nick Saldiveri, Old Dominion

RD4: QB Jake Haener, Fresno State

RD5: S Jordan Howden, Minnesota

RD6: WR A.T. Perry, Wake Forest

Analysis: I do like the Saints' haul, so it was hard for me to put them third. Bresee and Foskey are going to be a problem down the road and Saldiveri is going to start a long time in this league at tackle. I'm not sure if Haener will ever become a starter but he's walking into a good situation as he can sit and learn behind Carr for a few years. Worst case scenario, he's a quality backup. And finally, A.T. Perry is great value in the sixth round.

4. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

RD1: DT Calijah Kancey, Pitt

RD2: OT Cody Mauch, North Dakota State

RD3: DE YaYa Diaby, Louisville

RD5: LB SirVocea Dennis, Pitt

RD5: TE Payne Durham, Purdue

RD6: CB Josh Hayes, Kansas State

RD6: WR Trey Palmer, Nebraska

RD6: LB Jose Ramirez, Eastern Michigan

Analysis: There was a clear focus on the defensive side of the ball in this draft for Tampa Bay. Kancey is going to fit nicely in this defense but I question whether or not he'll develop into a star at the next level. Nothing really blows me away with this class. A lot of solid role players, but not much more than that.
