In this story:

It's no secret that the Carolina Panthers could use a little help at receiver. DJ Moore is just about as good as they come, but the offense has lacked a consistent No. 2 option.

Robbie Anderson had a breakout season in 2020 with 95 receptions for 1,096 yards and three touchdowns. That led to him receiving a two-year contract extension as the organization felt he would be a big part of the offense moving forward. Instead, it was quite the opposite. He saw those numbers cut in half in 2021 and then had career lows across the board in 2022.

Earlier this offseason, Panthers GM Scott Fitterer stated that this team is now ready to make some big moves.

One name that has become available is veteran wide receiver Robert Woods. Now, I'm not sure if he qualifies as a "big move" but he is the type of guy the Panthers wouldn't have considered signing in years past because they weren't quite ready to contend.

Entering his age 31 season, Woods can still be a No. 2 option in the passing game. He dealt with injuries in 2021 and never seemed to fit in Tennessee, so his numbers over the past two season won't wow you by any means. That said, he still brings a lot to the table.

Woods does have some ties with the Panthers, having played with Austin Corbett and Johnny Hekker in Los Angeles. And the two have already put their recruiting hat on to try to convince their former teammate to reunite in Carolina.

Woods also spent two years with Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas Brown in L.A. from 2020-21.
