Patriots Legend Tom Brady on Coach Bill Belichick: 'Weirdest Guy Ever!'

It's all "football love'' for Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, who have more than made their peace with one another. But that can still mean the Patriots coach is a "weird guy.''

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have more than made their peace with one another. There is an obvious respect and in their recent comments about one another, there is also an obvious "football love.'' But that doesn't mean that the two New England Patriots legends - arguably the greatest player-coach partnership in NFL history - always liked each other.

And while there are a lot of reasons for that, one sticks out: Belichick is a weirdo.

That's a paraphrase of what NBC Sports Patriots insider Tom E. Curran quotes Brady as saying about Belichick. The exact quote?

"Tom Brady once said to me in 2016 (that Belichick is) the weirdest guy I’ve ever met. It’s what I’ve been living for 16 years.''

Curran notes that Brady and Belichick continued on for three more seasons after that, weirdness and all, before the QB of course moved to Tampa Bay. While they teamed up together with the Patriots, they won six Super Bowl titles ... and then of course the now-retired won another for the Buccaneers.

Said Curran: "The back half of the Patriots dynasty was comprised of the greatest head coach of all time and the greatest quarterback of all time not really liking each other a whole hell of a lot.''

Also true, however - and important to the overall story - is what the two men recently said of one another.

From Belichick upon Brady's retirement: “Tom’s had just a tremendous career. The greatest player, the greatest career. A great, great person. It was such an opportunity and an honor for me to coach Tom … I guess it’s gotta end at some point. But it’s the greatest one ever. Congratulations, Tom.”

From Brady in return: "Coach Belichick and I developed an amazing relationship, really from the moment I was drafted. I had someone that really saw something in me that not a lot of other people did … he loves the sport, he loves teaching, he loves coaching, he loves competing, and nobody’s done it better than him. And I think what a blessing for me – there’s no way I have the success I’ve had personally without him, and I’m very grateful for that.”
