Jonathan Jones says injuring Josh Allen wasn't his intention, plans on checking in with Bills QB

In the second half of the New England Patriots' 16-10 win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 4, Josh Allen was taken out of the game and didn't return following a vicious hit taken by Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones. Jones was flagged on the game, and Allen is now in concussion protocol following the hit.

Following the game, Jones made it clear to NFL Network's Mike Giardi that his intention was not to harm Allen on that play. He also said he plans on checking in on Allen when he gets the chance.

Patriots safety and captain Devin McCourty was asked about the play during his postgame presser, and wondered "how else are you supposed to hit a guy" like Allen, who is running downhill and weighs nearly 240 lbs at 6-foot-5.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott weighed in on the supposed dirty play during his postgame press conference, saying "It's disappointing because there's no room for that kind of play in the NFL."

For what it's worth, Al Riveron, the head of NFL officiating, explained to Buffalo News writer Vic Carucci that Jones' hit on Allen didn't merit disqualification from the game, which is why he wasn't removed from play.

Chances are, a fine will be coming next week for Jones. Based on some of the fines handed out to other NFL players this past Saturday, expect it to be somewhere between $15,000-to-$20,000.
