Report: Jarrett Stidham Suffers Hip Injury, Will Be 'Several Weeks' Before He's 100% Healthy

There will only be three quarterbacks 100 percent on the practice field for the New England Patriots Friday.
Second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham has suffered a hip injury and is not expected to practice much, if at all, Friday, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport and Mike Giardi. Giardi also noted that Stidham is not expected to be 100 percent healthy for "several weeks."
Per source, the injury to Stidham is a hip and it will be several weeks before he's back to 100%. #Patriots @nflnetwork @AroundTheNFL https://t.co/HX4OUF9PbC

Stidham was taken to a local hospital on Thursday for precautionary tests on his upper leg that came back negative, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Auburn product was very limited at Friday's practice, according to reporters on-scene.
Jarrett Stidham appears to be dealing with some type of injury. He didn’t take any reps during the team periods and skipped the groin and hamstring stretches at the start. He walked through them, barely stretching at all. Common for someone with, at least, a pulled muscle.

This does not bode well for Stidham's chances of being the Week 1 starter. Stidham and veteran quarterback Cam Newton were expected to battle it out for the starting job this summer. While neither player has been outstanding during camp thus far, Stidham has struggled more than Newton, especially in the turnover department.
If Stidham wants to keep himself in the race to be the Week 1 starter, he'll need to get back on the practice field as soon as possible, and in more than just a limited fashion. We can further evaluate once we know the extent of his injury.
