All eyes were on second-year offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn Saturday night when the New England Patriots faced the Tennessee Titans in Week 2 of preseason action. Now seemingly fully recovered from his Achilles injury, Wynn drew the attention of everyone who wanted to see how the Georgia product could hold up the left side of the offensive line.

In three series, Wynn had an even split of pass/run blocking assignments and was strong in both areas. He looked quick in his two-point stance on passing plays, not allowing rushers to get around the edge to quarterback, Brian Hoyer. He also carved out running lanes for rookie running back Damien Harris, who had a very strong game out of the backfield (14 rushes for 80 yards).

Wynn's role in 2019 will undoubtedly be a major one. Protecting Tom Brady's blindside is a crucial role, especially when the QB is 42 years old and in his 20th NFL season.

There isn't a ton of depth behind the former first round pick on the roster, as Cole Croston and Dan Skipper have been taking second and third-team reps during camp and preseason at right tackle. Because of the gap in talent behind him, there is eager optimism that Wynn will be up to game speed and will be a consistent, reliable asset when Week 1 of the regular season comes.

Wynn's first impression of 2019 was one that showed the immense progression he has made since suffering the gruesome injury nearly a year ago. One or two more preseason games should have him prepared for the Pittsburgh Steelers in early September.
