Belichick Needs Patriots Advice? ‘Dial Up’ Joy Taylor!

In this story:
There comes a point in every coach’s life - even if that coach might be the greatest to ever do it - when the question inevitable gets asked …
“Has the game passed him by?”
And now somebody named “Joy Taylor” has offered up the final evaluation, the death knell, with an attempt at snarky humor that makes it even more difficult to take the FS1 personality seriously.
Taylor’s hot take on Belichick’s Patriots?
“It doesn’t even look like the Patriots are playing in the modern NFL at this point,” she said. “Bill Belichick is like dial-up trying to compete with SpaceX.”

We’re not fully certain of the details of her comparisons. But we get her drift, wobbly as the reasoning may be.
She’s referencing how “they look in camp” …. something she cannot possibly know.
She’s referencing Belichick’s penchant for talking about “competing” (in this case she’s confused about QB Mac Jones’ role) … a position that remains commonplace among coaches in press conference.
She is referencing both “The Patriot Way” being outmoded and in a sense Belichick being 71.
The latter concept can represent a valid guess; even as we get no indication of Belichick seeming tired or disinterested or lacking in energy (and PatriotsCountry.com at SI has been present at every camp interview and practice and would be happy to save a seat for Joy) … it happens, eventually.
But the Patriots’ concepts, their system, their foundation … all outmoded? That’s not just a guess - it’s an insult.
We’ve always thought that a fair self-measure of criticism (speaking of “outmoded”!) is this: Would we, would you, would the critic, say that criticism to your subject’s face? Can one imagine Joy Taylor trying to make this “inside-baseball” argument to an actual Patriots staffer, and how foolish she would look and feel?
Unless we’re wrong, and Joy can actually intellectually match an NFL coach, X for X and O for O. … in which case we urge the advice-giving Taylor to generously call Belichick’s office to see if his “dial-up phone” answers.
