James White, McCourty Twins Part of 'We Want to Play' Tweet Storm

On Sunday, NFL players coordinated a barrage of tweets with the hashtag "we want to play," in order to get the NFL's attention in regards to the concerns all of the players have about the safety guidelines, or lack thereof, the league has in place for the 2020 season.

Three New England Patriots players that were part of that tweet storm over the weekend were safety and captain Devin McCourty, cornerback Jason McCourty, and running back James White.

NFL Media's Tom Pelissero explained the reasoning behind the "we want to play" hashtag on Sunday.

"Translating the #WeWantToPlay posts you're seeing now: Joint medical committee recommended a 21-day acclimation period. NFL asked players to show up 2 weeks early to accomodate it; NFLPA said no. NFL shortened acclimation period to accommodate 2 preseason games. Union wants 0," Pelissero tweeted.

"That's on top of remaining questions over opt-out language, testing frequency, etc. Clubs are enforcing management rights by setting reporting dates; players must show up or face discipline. If there's a grievance, it'd be over unsafe work environment, as players' posts portend."

The Texans and Chiefs are set to report to training camp today (Monday, July 20). As for the remainder of the league, rookie can report to their respective facilities on July 21, quarterbacks and injured players on July 23, and all other players on July 28, per a memo sent to general managers and head coaches by Executive Vice President of Football Operations, Troy Vincent.
