Thomas getting placed on PUP is no surprise, as he was not expected to be ready for training camp because of his recovery from an Achilles injury that he suffered at the end of last season.
Michel is a surprise, however. He had gotten a knee scope back in May and said at the end of last month that his goal was to be ready for training camp and had downplayed the severity of his knee scope. The timetable for he and Thomas' return is unknown, but the news is no doubt unexpected on Michel's end.
Mike Reiss of ESPN also reported after the news broke that OL Cole Croston, DE Deatrich Wise, S Nate Ebner, and DB Ken Webster have also been placed on PUP.
