NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport shared that Gordon was dealing with two bone bruises in his knee before he suffered another injury against the New York Giants. He also said that once Gordon is fully healthy he is expected to be waived from IR.
#Patriots WR Josh Gordon was placed on Injured Reserve today because of two bone bruises in his knee that he dealt with before the injury against the #Giants, sources say. His time in NE is likely over as they are moving on. He’ll be waived off IR when fully healthy.

As the MMBQ's Albert Breer mentioned, Gordon is already very close to full health. Breer was told that Gordon was able to run up to 22 MPH on a treadmill during his last rehab session. Gordon hopes to sign with a new team once he is waived.
Source says Patriots WR Josh Gordon expects to be medically cleared soon, and that his knee injury is "minor". I was told he ran 22 MPH on the treadmill during a rehab session today.

Once he's cleared, he hopes to be released off of IR and sign with a new team.
The unfortunate designation to IR for Gordon is a product of his injury and performance with the team, which is why he will be waived once he is fully healthy.
In six games this season, Gordon was targeted 37 times and caught 20 passes for 287 yards and one touchdown.
