Tre'von Moehrig Entering Fourth Season with Raiders

Safety Tre'von Moehrig is entering his fourth season with the Las Vegas Raiders and looks to make an impact as a veteran in the defensive back room.

The Las Vegas Raiders may have one of the more underrated safeties in the National Football League in Tre'von Moehrig, who is already entering his fourth season.

Last season was Moehrig's best statistical season. He played in all 17 games and finished with 83 total tackles, 65 solo tackles, three interceptions, three tackles for loss and two sacks.

Moehrig finished the season with a 70.2 overall Pro Football Focus grade.

His best game came in Week 8 against the Detroit Lions when he totaled 10 tackles (seven solo) in the Raiders' 26-14 loss at Ford Field.

Moehrig has 193 tackles, 138 solo tackles, 19 passes defended and four interceptions In three years as a safety for the Silver and Black.

On the April 7 edition of the "Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast," our Hondo Carpenter Sr. broke down the Silver and Black's defensive back room, including Moehrig.

"This guy was the No. 1 safety in his class coming out, and the Raiders picked him, and he's gotten better," Carpenter said.

"Has he blossomed like I think people thought he would? No, I don't, but I don't think he's a bad player," Carpenter continued. "He continues to grind and is a guy that I would expect to get another deal from the Raiders. Is it 100%? Probably not, but I think it's significantly higher than 50%.

"He's a guy you're just waiting for to take that next step. He's got the talent and is a great kid. He is a terrific young man and is a guy you root for. Is he at a superstar level? No. Could he be? Yes. He's got all of the God-given gifts that you want. His vision is very good, and his ability to see and to have his eyes forward and his lateral vision is just very good.

"I think there is much room for him to grow, and I am a buyer at Tre'von Moehrig."

All eyes will be on Moehrig this offseason as he prepares for his fourth season with the Silver and Black.
