Raiders' John Samuel Shenker: A Closer Look

Las Vegas Raiders signed undrafted free agent tight end John Samuel Shenker to add depth in the TE room

The Las Vegas Raiders have made plenty of significant moves involving the tight end position this offseason. The Raiders traded tight end Darren Waller, to the New York Giants in exchange for the 100th pick in this year's 2023 NFL Draft.

The Raiders have signed vital veteran tight ends this offseason and drafted rookie tight end Michael Mayer from the University of Notre Dame. However, the Raiders also have another rookie tight end.

John Samuel Shenker is an undrafted free agent signed out of Auburn. He played five seasons with the Tigers, had a very proficient college football career, and even broke records.

Shenker holds the record for most catches as a tight end, with 68 catches in his career. He also finished second all-time with the total receiving yards as a tight end, with 779 total receiving yards.

During his five-year college career at Auburn University, John Samuel Shenker played 36 games. His junior and senior seasons with the football program were his best. He finished his junior season with 33 receptions for 416 yards. In his senior season, he finished with 20 receptions for 208 receiving yards and one total touchdown.

John Samuel Shenker did not participate in the 2023 NFL combine, but he participated in Auburn's 2023 Pro Day, where he had a phenomenal performance. The 6-foot-3, 242-pound tight end had 27 reps on the bench. He also ran a 4.53 40-yard dash.

Along with Mayer, the two rookie tight ends could be vital for the Raiders. The two finished with proficient college football careers, breaking various school records.

It will be interesting to see how the final tight end roster becomes official after Raiders Training camp, as the rookie Shenker will try to earn himself a roster spot on the Raiders 53-man roster.
