Raiders NFL Draft Prospect: CB Kei'Trel Clark, Louisville

One thing the Las Vegas Raiders have done well over the last few years in the draft is finding diamonds in the rough.

Now, in his second season, Raiders General Manager Dave Ziegler will need to continue bringing in talent from the later draft rounds.

“We’re going to continue to find players who fit what we look for, and continue to build this team in our vision, and I think we’re going to, at the same time, our goal is to win football games, and our goal for next year is to make an improvement over where we were this year,” Raiders General Manager Dave Ziegler said.

Cornerback Kei’trel Clark, Louisville

“Clark is an undersized but aggressive corner who competes above his weight class thanks to his agility, ball skills, competitive toughness, and reaction time,” Draft Bible said of Clark.

At 5-10, 176 pounds, Clark is considered tremendously undersized at the next level and, no doubt, will be overlooked by many scouts.

The Louisville product started all 12 regular season games before opting out for the postseason bowl game this season and deciding to forgo his senior season to jump into the NFL.

Clark finished the season with 51 tackles (35 solos), four tackles for losses, a sack, four pass breakups, and an interception.

“There is a large contingent within the scouting community who feel that Clark could very well be the highest player selected from the East-West Shrine Bowl in the 2023 NFL Draft,” Draft Bible said of Clark after the all-star game.

Clark was invited to participate in the East-West Shrine Bowl earlier this month at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and proved that he could compete against talented wide receivers on any given day.

Clark demonstrated his versatility of being capable to play on the boundaries and inside the slot, with a tenacious physicality that might have raised his draft stock.

From his practice sessions to the actual game, Clark made a name for himself. His quick play recognition and ability to blow up plays stood out the most over the weekend.

He was projected as a seventh-round selection, which might change as he continues to impress scouts. He will have another chance to do so on his pro day and at the NFL Scouting Combine.

But no matter what round he is projected in, Clark can become a solid addition to the Raiders.

I have him, if selected, a feisty cornerback who can help turn their secondary around and become one of the team’s draft steals on day three.

The NFL Draft will occur at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo., from Thursday, April 27, through Saturday, April 29. ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network will broadcast all seven rounds.

The NFL Scouting Combine is Feb. 28-March 6, 2023, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. March 7, 2023, before 4 p.m. EST, is the club's deadline to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

March 13-15 is the free agent negotiation period. Starting at 12 p.m. EDT on March 13 and ending at 3:59:59 p.m. EDT on March 15, clubs are permitted to contact and enter into contract negotiations with the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2022 Player Contracts at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.

The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period begins at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15. The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
