The Las Vegas Raiders are looking to keep their undefeated record intact as they remain on the road, traveling to take on the Buffalo Bills this Sunday.

The Raiders and Bills had similar games with different outcomes: hard-fought, defensive matchups that came down to the wire. The Raiders emerged victorious, the Bills did not.

The Raiders will be taking on a Bills team playing with a greater sense of urgency, as falling to 0-2 greatly diminishes their chances of making the postseason.

The Bills have an incredibly talented roster, especially on defense. There is depth at all three levels on that side of the ball, especially at cornerback.

Taron Johnson is one of the most underrated players in the league at his position, and Coach Josh McDaniels will have to account for his talents and what he can do to disrupt the game plan.

Johnson has been with the Bills since they selected him in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Weber State. He enjoyed a career season in 2022, posting 90 total tackles, six tackles for losses, nine passes defended and an interception.

Johnson is the Bills’ starting nickel corner, a position he earned early in his career. He is a physical slot defender who is not afraid to be aggressive with ball carriers.

One of the most notable elements of Johnson’s game is his durability. He has played more than 800 snaps in each of the last three seasons, including 969 in 2022. Johnson is a tough player who does not come off the field often and always making his presence felt.

Johnson’s excellent play in the slot earned him a contract extension in 2021, cementing him as one of the top slot corners in the league. Whoever is playing in the slot for the Raiders will draw a match-up with Johnson, one that will be crucial for that player to win.

The Raiders know they will be facing a tough Bills defense. Johnson is a major contributor to that defense, shutting down the slot. The Raiders will need to find ways to produce in the slot against Johnson if they want to have a chance to win the game.

The Silver and Black remain on the road this week as they travel to play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 1:05 p.m. EDT/10:05 a.m. PDT.
