The Las Vegas Raiders are in full off-season mode, and during this time, they’ll be focused on improving the roster by any means necessary. This includes scouting NFL Draft prospects and offering contracts to free agents around the league.

The offensive line is one part of the roster that needs to improve in 2023. The big story of the Raiders’ off-season is who they will replace Derek Carr with at quarterback, but that quarterback will need protection.

The Raiders could consider New England Patriots offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn. Due to various injuries, Wynn hasn’t lived up to the expectations with his first-round selection. However, he has the physical profile to be a good starting tackle in the NFL, so some potential is still salvageable.

Wynn is familiar with Coach Josh McDaniels and General Manager Dave Ziegler, who spent a couple of years together in New England. Let’s look at Wynn’s career so far and see if he would be a good fit in Silver and Black.

Wynn was selected No. 23 overall by the Patriots out of the University of Georgia in the 2018 NFL Draft. He suffered a torn Achilles in his rookie year, which shelved him for the season. He played only eight games in 2019, allowing two sacks as the Patriots’ starting left tackle. Wynn has yet to play in an entire season in his career.

According to Pro Football Focus, Wynn appeared in only nine games this past season, committing nine penalties and allowing four sacks. It was the worst-graded season of his career.

Wynn has the physical abilities to be a starting lineman in the NFL, standing 6-2 and weighing 310 pounds. He can play multiple positions on the line, which might entice Ziegler to kick the tires on him. His familiarity with McDaniels’ system should be advantageous to him as well.

Wynn will hit the open market and should not be an expensive player. He is still only 27 years old, so the Raiders could sign him to see if he can bounce back from a rough couple of years at the beginning of his career.

The NFL Scouting Combine is Feb. 28-March 6, 2023, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. March 7, 2023, before 4 p.m. EST, is the club's deadline to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

March 13-15 is the free agent negotiation period. During that time, starting at 12 p.m. EDT on March 13 and ending at 3:59:59 p.m. EDT on March 15, clubs are permitted to contact and enter into contract negotiations with the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2022 Player Contracts at 4 p.m EDT on March 15.

The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period begins at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15. The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
