Raiders Young Defense Can Shine Vs. Jets

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders have played well defensively over the last few weeks.
Defensive Coordinator Patrick Graham has been able to get the most out of his unit this season, and Interim Coach Antonio Pierce has the Raiders playing inspired football.
The Raiders have much momentum going on that side of the ball.
What could take the Raiders’ defense to another level is if they got more good play out of their young players. They face the New York Jets, who have struggled on offense all season, at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday Night Football.
With the Jets’ offense not performing well and their young quarterback, Zach Wilson, committing turnovers and putting the ball in harm’s way, the Raiders’ young players have the opportunity to make their mark and establish more playing time for themselves.
The Jets have a couple of difference-makers on offense, but beyond only a few players, they do not have a player who can significantly impact the game. This should lead to advantageous match-ups for some of the Raiders’ young players trying to find their footing.
For example, the Jets’ offensive line has shuffled heavily throughout the season. They rarely had a consistently healthy grouping, contributing to some offensive struggles.
This is a chance for defensive end Tyree Wilson to find consistency that has not been there for him during his rookie season. While he has shown flashes of athleticism and explosiveness, it has not resulted in pass-rushing production. Against this Jets' offensive line, he could finally create some of that production and build confidence in the future.
If cornerback Jakorian Bennett does not draw the match-up with wide receiver Garrett Wilson, he should draw a receiver closer to his level that he can eliminate on one side of the field. Bennett’s athleticism has been impressive, but he also needs to be more consistent and commit fewer penalties.
Linebacker Amari Burney has filled in nicely for injured Luke Masterson, and will be tasked with slowing down running back Breece Hall and taking on the Jets' tight ends over the middle.
The Raiders have some young, talented defensive players who are ready for bigger roles and more production. They have a great chance to make that happen against the Jets.
The Silver and Black will remain at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to take on the New York Jets on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 8:20 p.m. EST/5:20 p.m. PST.
