The Las Vegas Raiders are preparing for the NFL Draft, which is only three weeks away. They have spent the last three months gathering information on the different prospects in this year’s draft class, trying to determine who fits the team on and off the field.

They will likely add offensive linemen in the draft to find a group they can put together long-term to continue to protect the quarterback and open up running lanes for Josh Jacobs.

The offensive line is one of the Raiders’ biggest needs in the draft, and one player who can help fill that need is Syracuse’s Matthew Bergeron. Whether he is a tackle or a guard at the next level, it’s clear that Bergeron is a good offensive line prospect.

Look at Bergeron and see if he would fit in the Silver and Black.

Bergeron started almost 40 games in his career with the Orange, mostly at left tackle. He allowed only 10 ten sacks from his redshirt freshman to senior seasons in the games he started at that left tackle spot.

Whether operating as a run blocker or a pass protector, he did the job efficiently. Bergeron was a two-time All-ACC selection and was a team captain with the Orange.

As a prospect, Bergeron should thrive at the next level due to his textbook run-blocking and agility. He has years of starting experience and multiple good showings on tape. He has elite size at 6-5 and 318 pounds.

The biggest questions about Bergeron are his inconsistent hand placement in pass pro sets, whether he can stay at tackle in the NFL, or if he is best suited to move inside to guard.

If the Raiders aren’t concerned with his anchoring ability and hand placement, Matthew Bergeron could be a plug-and-play right tackle for Coach Josh McDaniels. If they are, he can kick inside to guard and continue to be the elite run blocker he is, this time for Josh Jacobs.

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period began at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.

The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this offseason.
