Raiders Opponent QB Spotlight: Josh Allen

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders are 1-0 and will look to remain undefeated when they take on the Buffalo Bills this Sunday at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y.
This is the first time the Raiders will play in Buffalo since 2017, a rain-soaked game in which they had four turnovers and lost, 34-14.
The Raiders and Bills matched up again in 2020 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, with Buffalo emerging victorious again, 30-23.
Star quarterback Josh Allen will have a chance to take on the Raiders in his home stadium for the first time. During the Bills' victory in Las Vegas, Allen completed 24-of-34 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for a touchdown.
Allen is a dynamic playmaker with both his arm and his mobility, and has developed into one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
Allen was selected by Buffalo with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Wyoming, the Bills trading up from the No. 12 overall pick to select him. This move was widely criticized at the time, as Allen was a very raw quarterback who did not play a high level of competition in college.
Allen was a unique prospect due to his size, athleticism and incredible arm strength. Over the years, he has refined his skills and has developed as a quarterback to become one of the best overall passers in the league.
In his NFL his career, Allen has completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 18,397 yards, 138 touchdowns and 60 interceptions. He has also rushed for 3,087 yards and 38 touchdowns. He is a two-time Pro Bowler and was named Second-Team All-Pro in 2020.
Allen is a true dual-threat quarterback, with the ability to beat teams through the air and on the ground. He is a massive 6-foot-5 and 237 pounds, making him one of the toughest ball carriers to tackle in the league.
It is incredibly difficult to game plan for Allen, as he can beat a defense in so many different ways. The Raiders have linebackers with speed, like Divine Deablo, so he can make a good quarterback spy in case Allen decides to run.
Allen is prone to turnovers, posting at least nine interceptions in each season of his career, so the Raiders’ ball-hawking defensive backs such as Marcus Peters and Marcus Epps will have to take advantage if they want to steal a road game against a tough Bills team.
The Raiders will face a tough test against one of the league’s best and most electric quarterbacks in Allen, so they need to be ready for all the different ways he can beat them.
The Silver and Black remain on the road next week as they travel to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 1:05 p.m. EDT/10:05 a.m. PDT.
