The NFLPA announced that 72 players in the NFL have tested positive for COVID-19 as of last Friday. Those numbers do not include coaches and other staff members.

The list includes notable players such as Denver Broncos’ linebacker Von Miller who has recovered, according to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero,

The NFL currently has around 2,800 players on rosters, which concludes free agent signings, draft picks, undrafted free agents and practice squad members.

Teams will cut down to 53-man rosters by the start of the regular season.

As per the NFL's 2020 calendar, free agency began on time, the 2020 NFL Draft was held virtually, and two preseason games have been canceled due to the pandemic.

Training camps will open on July 28, where everyone reporting will be tested for COVID-19.

The Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs are the only teams that can have their rookies report to camp as early as this Saturday.

For the rest of the teams, their rookies can report as early as next Tuesday.

With COVID-19 cases skyrocketing in California and southern states, it is possible some camps can be delayed.

To take note of other major sports, according to MLB, 58 players and six staff members tested positive for COVID-19, and 20 NBA players have tested positive for COVID-19, including All-Star point guard Rusell Westbrook of the Houston Rockets.

As the season nears, the NFLPA continues to have concerns about player safety during the pandemic.

There’s still time for the NFL to put out a plan regarding player safety and how to minimize the spread of COVID-19 during the season.
