LOOK: Are Rams Hinting At New Uniforms?

The Los Angeles Rams hinted at a cryptic announcement on social media and many fans believe new threads are on the way.

Something's apparently breaking bad within the Los Angeles Rams organization.

The Rams hinted at an announcement on social media on Monday night, in a media post with blue and yellow smoke spewing from a retro recreational vehicle parked in front of SoFi Stadium as well as Tuesday's date, Apr. 25. Accompanying the post is a caption simply reading "Something's cookin'" with curious eye emojis.

Such imagery reminded viewers of the AMC television series "Breaking Bad," which featured its main characters Walter White (portrayed by Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) cooking methamphetamine in an RV.

Exactly what this announcement hints at remains to be seen. Some believe it's a preview for a draft hype video (even with the team's relatively muted prescience after dealing away their premier pick) or perhaps a new feature/section at SoFi Stadium. Many wouldn't be shocked to see characters from the "Breaking Bad" franchise appear in whatever is indeed cooking: over the past calendar year, Cranston and Paul have reprised their roles in both a prequel television series, "Better Call Saul," and a commercial for PopCorners popped corn chips that debuted during Super Bowl LVII.

But the most common theory has many hypothesizing that the Rams are getting some form of a new uniform for the 2023-24 season.

A full-on rebrand is unlikely: NFL aesthetic rules prohibit full-on identity changes within five years of introduction and the Rams' latest look (where the animated ram head was replaced by a stylized "LA") was introduced in 2020, in time for their move into the full-time Southern California home of SoFi Stadium.

If new threads are indeed on the way, a throwback look is certainly within the realm of possibility. The NFL recently relaxed its helmet rules to allow multiple helmet shells, allowing for authentic throwback uniforms (i.e. "Pat Patriot" in New England and "Bucco Bruce" in Tampa Bay) to return to the field.

The Rams' most popular throwback jersey has been the blue and yellow designs they regularly wore from 1973 through 1999. It was reintroduced in 2009 and the Rams even wore the retro uniform during their appearance in Super Bowl LIII, becoming the second team to wear a throwback in the Big Game (24 years after San Francisco did so in the 29th edition).

While many NFL teams ditched their throwbacks during the "one-shell" days, the Rams were able to make the prior look work, switching the color of the curly horn decal over a darker shade of blue as the base.
