Rams COO Kevin Demoff Debunks New Uniform Rumors
Teams across the NFL are taking the month of July to reveal new alternate uniforms, with some already doing so and others on the way.
One team that won't be joining the craze, though, is the Los Angeles Rams, despite some earlier rumors claiming otherwise. On The Athletic's "11 Personnel" podcast, Rams COO Kevin Demoff confirmed that the team would not don any new looks in the coming season.
“We’re not going to introduce a new jersey this season," Demoff said. "We looked at a lot of different concepts over the past year and none of them felt like the right jersey to introduce. At this time, at this moment, whether it was looking at true alternates or throwbacks from different concepts historically, there was nothing that seemed like a great fit. We’ve always made it clear that we have the ability to add new uniforms. We also said we’re not going to add a uniform for the sake of adding a uniform.”
Additionally, Demoff advised fans to not expect a change next year either, saying that the Rams are content with their current uniform set.
"I don’t think next year we’re necessarily on a different track," Demoff said. "I think we’ll continue to explore. A different idea would have to pop up next year than what we’ve already explored. I think the earliest we’re probably looking at is 2025.”
The Rams switched to their current uniform set in 2020, coinciding with the opening of SoFi Stadium. The new look drew a mixed reaction, but the white "modern throwback" jersey introduced in 2021 became a fan favorite. So much so that the Rams wore it for Super Bowl LVI in their home stadium, and it became the primary road jersey for the 2022 season, supplanting the "bone" uniform.
Back when the Rams first unveiled their current uniforms, they teased that a second alternate jersey would come in 2022. Obviously, that never ended up happening, and it doesn't seem like a new jersey is in the cards any time soon.
