In this story:

Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald has been the face of the position practically since he came into the NFL in 2014. He's made the Pro Bowl every year of his career and has been listed as a First Team All-Pro seven times.

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year has been double and even triple-teamed for an absurdly large portion of his Hall of Fame career.

"Since 2017, [Donald's] faced 1,797 double teams, 152 more than anyone else in the defensive field. Yet he still leads all defensive tackles in pass-rush win rate during that span (26%)," according to ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler.

Rams coach Sean McVay has put Donald through double and triple-team match-ups throughout training camp because that's how every team attacks him.

"[Donald's] that good that I think most teams every week, the first thing that they talk about is, ‘Where's Waldo? Find 99. Make sure that you have an answer for him," McVay said during Monday's press conference. "So that's what we would do if we played him too."

McVay believes that Donald's greatness comes from not only his vicious energy on the gridiron but because of how he holds himself accountable as well.

“I think that's why he is who he is," McVay said. "The great ones never get complacent. There's always things that you can look at. Nobody has higher standards for Aaron than he does for himself. And I think that's a separator."

The Rams threw a lot, perhaps too many, assets into building their Super Bowl-winning team in 2021-22. They sacrificed a lot of picks and players to pursue the title.

It obviously paid off, but they paid for it dearly last season with a historic 5-12 hangover. Donald is one of the few Lombardi raisers that remain with the Rams. McVay explained that Donald's football mentality is something a lot of the new players should emulate.

"I think there's a lot of people on this team that have something to prove," McVay said. And if you're wired the right way, then you're feeling and thinking the same things that Aaron's thinking."
