Ravens G Andrew Vorhees Injury Update

After suffering a torn ACL in March, Baltimore Ravens guard Andrew Vorhees will miss his rookie season after landing on the non-football injury list

Leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft, offensive lineman Andrew Vorhees was seen as a likely early-round pick with an outside shot at making it into the first round.

The USC product had more than proven himself at the college level, earning two All-Pac 12 selections and a first-team All-American nod in 2022. With that production and great measurables at 6-6 and 310 pounds, he could've been one of the first interior linemen taken in the draft.

However, that was before Vorhees suffered a torn ACL during the NFL Scouting Combine in March. Knee injuries are always scary for any player, and this one nearly pushed Vorhees out of the draft entirely. Even with the injury, though, the Baltimore Ravens decided to take a chance by trading back into the draft to select him in the seventh round

The Ravens were always playing the long game with this selection, and the expectation was that Vorhees wouldn't play in his rookie season. Those expectations became reality on Wednesday, as the Ravens placed the rookie guard on the non-football injury list, per NFL insider Aaron Wilson.

According to Pro Football Talk, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the surgeon who repaired Vorhees' torn ACL, sent a letter to all 32 teams before the draft, stating he expects Vorhees to be able to play without restrictions following his rehab.

For the Ravens, this situation likely feels very familiar. In 2022, Baltimore drafted pass-rusher David Ojabo in the second round after he tore his Achilles during Michigan's pro day in mid-March. The difference is that Ojabo began the season on injured reserve instead of the non-football injury list, and was able to make his debut at the very end of his rookie campaign.

Even with Vorhees set to miss his entire rookie season, the Ravens will be more than happy if he can indeed come back at full strength in Year 2.
