Ravens Coach Harbaugh 'Confronting Everything' in Training Camp

Training camp is underway for the Baltimore Ravens, and while he's not ready to grade how his offense is developing, he's pushing an attitude of leaving no flaw uncorrected.

The Baltimore Ravens went through one hell of an offseason prior to starting training camp. Now that the team can focus on football above all else, the time is being spent on identifying the best ways to get the offense up and running.

You'd think that with quarterback Lamar Jackson happy again and leading his team with new star receiver Odell Beckham Jr., leading a suddenly stacked stable of weapons, this would be the easy part.

But with new offensive coordinator Todd Monken in town, not only is Jackson breaking in new receivers, he's learning a new language and the teammates are trying to figure out each other at the same time.

"I think they're on their way," coach John Harbaugh said on Thursday following the team's second day of training camp practice. "It's kind of hard to put a grade on it....we just look at everything that we need to correct. We always talk about confronting everything that has to do with our football [team] - every single thing...just trying to improve on it and get on the same page."

The goal, Harbaugh says, is a shared understanding of what is happening and what is supposed to happen.

That's not to say the Baltimore offense is struggling per se, only going through the growth experiences any new offense would in the same situation.

"We have a lot of work ahead of us," Beckham said in reference to the offensive installation. "But I think that we'll wait when we get to September, and we'll see what we have going."

Ravens fans can't wait for September to arrive and only hope the team can get there healthy and as prepared as possible.

Beckham also said there's a confidence from Monken that is real and resonates with the players. That lends more credibility to the idea that this team isn't just figuring things out as they go, but putting in place the methods needed to win in the regular season.

Of course, all of that is geared toward another playoff run in Baltimore. Something the team is expecting from itself after making the postseason in four of the last five seasons.
